Jan Almy
Jan Almy sorting out an Agatha Christie break for a book club With a degree in English and American literature and a lifelong passion for reading, Jan has been a member of a thriving book club for the past fifteen years and it was on a self-organised weekend break to Bath with her book club that she realised the potential for enjoyable literary breaks. This weekend took the form of Jane Austen-themed sightseeing, coupled with some excellent meals, a few cheeky glasses of wine, guided walks and retail therapy. A brilliant time was had by all and now, through Book Club Tours, she intends to offer other book clubs the chance to spend some enjoyable time together whilst learning about a favourite author or location. From the Brontė sisters in Haworth to Agatha Christie in Devon; Ian Rankin's Inspector Rebus in Edinburgh to Lorna Doone in Exmoor there is something for every group.

The business has now expanded to include acting as ground handlers for overseas student groups who want to experience British culture, visit our theatres, view our castles, see the famous London sights and generally immerse themselves in all things British.  Book Club Tours organise their tours from the moment of arrival in the UK to their departure so that the staff can relax and enjoy the tour as much as their charges.

Carol Myhill
Carol Myhill sorting out a Jane Austen book club tourCarol has worked in travel for over seventeen years, previously as Operations Manager for an independent tour operator.  She says, “Book Club Tours will offer literary trips and travel to members of book clubs and other societies enabling them to significantly increase their enjoyment and knowledge of chosen authors whilst enhancing personal relationships within their particular club.

"I can use my experience to put together tours for book groups including only those elements our customers want. I can make suggestions for every minute of the day but also realise the necessity for free time.  Our strengths at Book Club Tours are experience, knowledge, enthusiasm and, probably most importantly, like-mindedness. If our customers return from a tour having thoroughly enjoyed their time away together in addition to having learned something new, we will have succeeded!"

Together we make up the Book Club Tours team offering tailor-made travel, accommodation and sight-seeing to groups both large and small.
