The Lake District Poets - Itinerary & Pricing Examples

Derwent Water-explore the area whilst learning more about Wordsworth, Coleridge, Ruskin and Beatrix PotterPlease note that these are just examples. Your tour itinerary will be prepared to meet your group's exact requirements and will be priced according to numbers, date of travel and inclusions. You can include as much, or as little, as you like.

Example Itinerary based on 16 people travelling together (3 nights)

DAY 1
1600 hrs Arrive at your hotel in the Windermere area and check in.
Evening at your leisure.
DAY 2
0830 hrs Breakfast at your hotel and then board your coach for the journey to Cockermouth, where Wordsworth was born. (Journey time 1hr 15 mins from Windermere.) Visit the Wordsworth House.
1300 hrs Lunch in Cockermouth and then back on your coach for the journey to Dove Cottage in Grasmere. Visit Dove Cottage and the Wordsworth Museum and Art Gallery.
1400 hrs Reboard your coach and continue on to Kendal for some shopping and a chance to look around this 'gateway to the Lakes'. On the way back to your hotel you could call in to the famous Lakeland shop in Windermere - the home of creative kitchenware
Evening at leisure.
DAY 3
0830 hrs Breakfast.
0930 hrs Board your coach for the journey round to Sawrey where Beatrix Potter's house, Hill Top, is situated. Visit the house and then travel on to Coniston.
1200 hrs Depart on a 50-minute circular boat trip around Coniston. You can break the journey at any point for lunch and then reboard the next boat.
1400 hrs Reboard your coach for transfer to Ambleside where you will visit Rydal Mount, where Wordsworth lived for 20 years. Here you will enjoy a private tour of the house and garden, a poetry reading, a glass of wine and some delicious Grasmere gingerbread. The coach will now take you back to your hotel.
DAY 4
0830 hrs Breakfast and check out.
You could choose to head straight off or, perhaps, enjoy some leisure time in Windermere and, possibly, a lakeside walk.

  • 3 nights bed and breakfast in central Lake District hotel (twin/double share).
  • 2 days private coach hire.
  • Entrance to Wordsworth House at Cockermouth.
  • Entrance to Dove Cottage.
  • Entrance to Hill Top.
  • Coniston Boat Trip.
  • Entrance to Rydal Mount. Private tour of the house and garden with poetry reading.
