Jane Austen in Bath

Jane Austen author of Persuasion, Sense and Sensibility, Northanger Abbey, Pride and Prejudice, Mansfield Park and Emma'It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single man in possession of a good fortune, must be in want of a wife.'

The famous first line of Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice is still as true today as it ever was. Discuss.

Anything else of interest in the area?

  • Perhaps there may be something on at The Theatre Royal that you would enjoy?
  • A trip out to the beautifully preserved National Trust village of Lacock where Cranford, Pride and Prejudice and many other period dramas have been filmed is well worth considering.
  • A narrowboat trip on the Kennet and Avon canal is a relaxing way to spend a few hours.
  • Visit the stunning Bath Abbey and enjoy a Tower Tour which gives you the chance to stand on top of the Abbey's vaulted ceiling, sit behind the clock face, see the Abbey bells and get a bird's eye view of the city.
